Junior AI Engineer/ Data Scientist (Remote - UK Based) – Applied AI at Global Scale
We are looking for a generalist in data and AI who we can train up to be a specialist.
At HSAT, we help the world understand crops. Our platforms, CropGPT and CropManager, combine billions of data points from satellites, surveys, weather systems, and market feeds to deliver real-time insights for soft commodities. For example, we predict the amount of cocoa being produced in Ivory Coast with over 97% accuracy, and we forecast the sugar grown in India six months before harvest with over 98% accuracy.
We work with some of the largest traders, producers, and food companies on the planet, supporting decisions on global markets. We run on AI from end to end: large language models, AI agents, and automated pipelines power how we operate, how we research, and how we deliver intelligence to clients.
We're hiring to join our fully remote team.
Who we're looking for:
A graduate from a Russell Group university (or equivalent) with a 2:1 or above in a STEM subject.
Someone genuinely excited by AI, agents, and what's possible at with the very latest technology. You want to build, you want to learn, and you want to be part of the team.
Confident with Python, but not an expert. We will teach the rest.
Curious, pragmatic, and able to work through ambiguity to deliver results.
No prior experience in agriculture, or satellite data needed. Just a strong foundation in problem-solving and a real appetite to learn.
What you'll be doing:
Building and deploying AI agents and AI-powered tools that run across our business, automating real workflows and connecting our systems together.
Working hands-on with the latest large language models and agent frameworks to solve practical problems end to end.
Developing and refining the data pipelines and infrastructure that power our intelligence in real time, at terabyte and petabyte scale across hundreds of global regions.
Learning the full stack of how a modern AI company operates, from tooling and automation through to the production machine learning models at our core. You'll start by building the AI systems that power how we work, and grow into the modelling and prediction science that sits at the heart of what we do.
Collaborating with a seasoned team of engineers and scientists to learn best practices in AI, data modelling, infrastructure, and production systems.
Why join us:
Real scale: you'll work with global food data and the latest AI tools along with satellite, weather, and market data.
Serious learning: you'll be trained by a team with decades of experience in machine learning and data engineering. No hand-waving, just practical, production-grade work.
Certifications supported: we'll pay for your AWS certifications and give you dedicated time to study and pass.
Remote-first: work from anywhere in the UK, with flexible hours and a results-focused culture.
Industry impact: your work will directly support some of the largest players in the global food and commodities sectors.
Work Location: Remote
